BE A MENTOR IN THE HIGH SCHOOL BIGS PROGRAM

Why be a High School Big?

The BBBS High School Bigs program is designed to provide mentoring support to elementary/middle school students (Littles) by pairing them with high school mentors (Bigs). The program offers numerous benefits for both the high school mentors and the elementary/middle school students.

As a High School Big, you will experience:

  • Leadership Development: Serving as a Big allows you the opportunity to take responsibility, guide and support others, and serve as a positive role model.
  • Personal Growth: Mentoring provides you an opportunity to develop your interpersonal skills, empathy, and compassion as well as to understand and appreciate different perspectives and backgrounds.
  • Community Engagement: As a High School Big you will be actively engaging with your community and positively contributing by helping younger students and making a difference in their lives.
  • College & Career Readiness: Mentoring experiences enhances your college and career readiness. You can include your participation in the BBBS program on your resume or college applications, showcasing your commitment to community service and personal development.
  • Enhanced Self-Esteem: A mentor positively impacts the life of another, which can often provide a boost in self-esteem and confidence. Seeing the positive influence you have on others can be highly rewarding and empowering.
