Man UP Success!
On February 4th, we held our first Man UP recruitment night at the Ore Dock. A number of prospective Big Brothers came out to get all their questions answered about what being a Big Brother is all about, while enjoying live music and pizza. The Man UP Campaign has been extremely successful so far, but we’re not done yet.
If you were unable to join us at our recruitment night, but would still like some information about becoming a Big Brother, you can call Laura or Liz at 475-7801.
Thank you to Mike Letts & The Marquettes for great live music, Aubree’s Pizza for their donation of delicious pizza, and the Ore Dock for a great night. Most importantly, thank you to all the of prospective Big Brothers that took the step in strengthening our youth right in our own community!
Girl Power & Henna Tattoos!
This months Girl Power event was all about experiencing something new. Matches got to experience that art of temporary Henna Tattoos. Little sisters and big sisters got to look through books for designs that they liked or come up with something on their own. A BIG thank you to Kris Pfaffle for such a fun night!
Matches head to the climbing wall!
Matched headed out to the climbing wall at the Physical Educational Instructional Facility (PEIF) on the campus of Northern Michigan University to get in some winter exercise! It was great to see matches encouraging their Big or Little to climb a little higher. Matches did a great job cheering and coaching their Big or Little on how to make it up the wall. A BIG thank you to the Outdoor Recreation Center (ORC) at the PEIF for such a great afternoon!!
It's time to Man UP!

Big Brothers Big Sisters of Marquette & Alger Counties is in critical need of positive male role models to Man UP and become a Big Brother!
There are 30 Little Brothers through out Marquette & Alger Counties who are waiting to be matched with someone they can call their own. It is our desire to give men a fun and easy way to help strengthen our communities by providing boys a quality mentoring experience that is proven to help children who face adversity succeed in and out of school. Believe it or not, it's much easier than you think and you already have the tools it takes.
Do you hunt? Do you fish? Do you go hiking? Do you bike? Do you go to the movies? If you answered yes to any of these questons, then you have what it takes to be a Big Brother. Yes, you!
Big Brothers Big Sisters has a professional staff that will support you through out your match. The basic requirements to volunteer are: at least 18 years of age, have a valid social security number and drivers license, be available to volunteer for 4-6 hours a month for a minimum of a year.
